The Board of Education of Hamilton County Community Unit District No.
10 met in a special session on the evening of February 19, 2004 at 6:00 p.m.,
in the Unit Office.
The meeting was called to order by
Board President John Ewald, and Roll Call was as follows: Present – Steve
Becker, Krystal Donelson, Tom Maulding, Randy Sloan, Jerry White and John
Ewald. Absent – Larry Launius.
Motion
by Becker, second by White to convene in to executive session at 6:00 p.m. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.
Motion
by Sloan, second by Maulding to come out of executive session at 6:35 p.m. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.
Motion by White, second by Donelson to
convene in regular session. Vote was
taken by voice and motion carried.
Motion by Becker, second by Sloan to approve
the minutes of the executive session.
Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.
Motion by Becker, second by Sloan to approve
the following administrative recommendations pertaining to student 2004-1:
1.
Recommendation
that student 2004-1 must participate in early substance abuse intervention
screenings provided by Comprehensive Services.
2.
Recommendation
that student 2004-1’s guardian seek substance abuse counseling for their child
and seek appropriate treatment, as determined by any such counseling.
3.
Recommendation
that student 2004-1 be expelled from Hamilton County Senior High School for the
remainder of the 2003-2004 school year.
4.
Recommendation
that if parents make necessary arrangements, including transportation, that student
2004-1 enroll in a GED class at the Hamilton County Family Resource Center
which meets from 9:00 a.m. – noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This class will continue to the end of the
2003-2004 school year.
5.
Recommendation
that student 2004-1 be re-enrolled in Hamilton County Senior High School, with
a schedule recommended by the guidance counselor, for the first semester of the
2004-2005 school year.
Motion by Maulding, second by Sloan to convene in to executive session
at 6:38 p.m. Vote was taken by voice

Motion by Donelson, second by White to
convene in regular session. Vote was
taken by voice and motion carried.
Motion by Sloan, second by Becker to approve
the minutes of the executive session.

the following administrative recommendations pertaining to student 2004-2:
1.
Recommendation

district will accept credit earned from the Hamilton-Jefferson County Safe
School program for the remainder of the 2003-2004 school year. Classes to be enrolled would be from
recommendations between the guidance counselor and Safe School personnel.
5.
Recommendation
that student 2004-2 be re-enrolled in Hamilton County Senior High School, with
a schedule recommended by the guidance counselor, for the first semester of the
2004-2005 school year.
Motion by Sloan, second by Donelson to adjourn. Vote was taken by voice, motion carried, and
the meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
